I consider myself to be a pretty proficient web designer but every time I read a tutorial or chat to folks with more experience than me I realise how little I know.

I build my websites using Dreamweaver. I work mainly in 'code view' now although it is still so helpful to check back to 'design view' to make sure that everything is laid out correctly or use the code hints option when I am working late at night or have brain fade.

As with the graphic design I do it is inevitable that I will develop my own 'style'. This site alone has been through countless different incarnations and may well change again in the future. I tend to try layouts on this site so I will keep a record of what I am doing from month to month. I will also offer any completed designs up for download.

I try as best I can to stick to clean code and W3 Web Standards. I also try and check my designs in as many web browsers as I can. In my opinion though it is complicated builds that have the most issues with browsers and I believe that a site can be very simple and yet effective. The graphic design and layout needs to be right but the content is the most important thing.

I will often include a breakdown of how a Yoto Creative client site is created for you to follow so that you can gain some useful help in designing your own website. I really hope you enjoy my work and maybe find some of it useful for sites yourself.
